Apex Legends is the latest battle royal game that is challenging the dominance of Fortnite and PUBG. Apex Legends has beaten Fortnite's record of 10 million downloads in the first week by surpassing 25 million downloads. Being a PUBG fan, I wanted to try Apex Legends, primarily because the characters appeal to me. Unfortunately, Apex Legends won't launch on my PC.

That is frustrating as hell. I really wanted to try this game, and it gave up on me already. So I started looking for solutions and realized that quite a few people are facing a similar issue. While I am sure EA is working on a patch, here are some possible solutions to solve this error.
1. Run as Admin
You will need administrator rights to run Apex Legends on your computer and maybe, the game doesn't have the necessary permissions. Right-click on the Apex Legends icon and click on Run as administrator.
If this works then you need to make a few changes so that Apex Legends always runs with admin rights. To do that, right-click on it again and this time, select Properties. You can also use the Alt+Enter shortcut while the icon is selected. Under the Compatibility tab, select the check box for Run this program as an administrator and click on Apply and OK.
2. Repair/Update Game
EA understands that sometimes, files get corrupted and there can be many reasons behind it. That is why EA has included an option to repair Apex Legends if it fails to launch as intended. To repair Apex Legends, open Origin and go to My Game Library.
Right-click on the game icon and click on Repair Game. Follow the on-screen instructions. On the same screen, there is also an option to Update Game. Developers often release patches and updates that address the common problems. In our case, check if there is an update for Apex Legends.

I know, this is a weird fix but it worked for some users. Maybe it will work for you too. One user accidentally discovered that changing the game language from English to Polish and back again launched Apex Legends for him. Can't hurt to try.
To do so, launch Origin, right-click on Apex Legends' icon and select Game Properties.
Click on Advanced Launch Options.
This is where you will change your game language from English to Polish. Don't forget to save. Relaunch Apex Legends and close it. Alternatives to adobe photoshop for mac. Then change the language back to English to see if it works.
4. Disable Fullscreen Optimization
Fullscreen Optimization can cause all sorts of problems like lags and crashes while playing games on Windows 10. Windows 10 introduced Borderless Display Mode that can be preventing Apex Legends to function normally. Check our extensive guide on how to disable fullscreen optimization.
5. Reinstall
Maybe Origin and Apex Legends got installed incorrectly? Press the Windows key, search for Control Panel and open it.
Search for Uninstall a program and open it.
Find Apex Legends, right-click and select Uninstall. Do the same for Origin then.
Download Origin and then Apex Legends from the Origin Store or your game library using the link below.
6. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings
Firewall and antivirus protect us against all sorts of malware, adware, virus, ransomware, and more. And the hackers are still able to infect our systems and steal data. Sometimes, the firewall can also block a perfectly good software like Apex Legends.
Open Windows Defender Firewall and check if Apex Legends and Origin appear under the Inbound Rules column. If you are using another dedicated software firewall, then you need to check for the software that you've allowed Apex Legends game.
Some users found that adding a rule to allow Apex Legends at the firewall helped. To do that, select Inbound Rules in the left column, click on Action and select New Rule.
Select Program and click on Next.
Select 'This program path' to locate the Apex Legends launcher file in the folder where you've installed the game. It should be an .exe file inside C drive. Click Next when you're ready to proceed.
Select Allow the connection in the next screen and click on Next.
Select all three boxes and click on Next.
Assign any name to this rule, but I would recommend setting it as Apex Legends so that it is easy to remember. Click on Finish. Repeat the same process but this time for Origin.
7. Malwarebytes and CCleaner
While we are not big fans of CCleaner, we do recommend Malwarebytes to every Windows user we can find. An EA representative asks users who are having trouble launching Apex Legends to run these two tools.
Just download them using the link below, install them, and run them. Both apps will notify you if they find anything. Follow the on-screen instructions if it finds a threat. The free version is good enough, but get the pro if you can.
8. New Account
If you are a new user and haven't played Apex Legends yet, it can't hurt to create a new account. The process of creating a new account remains the same as you did it the first time.
Sign out of Origin if you are signed in. Click on create a new account and follow the process like you did the first time when creating an account. Hopefully that helps.

In this guide, I have compiled a few tweaks and recommended settings that can possibly increase the FPS.
Personally, I've managed to increase my FPS a little more than the 13 that I kept getting.

How to Fix Apex Legends Low FPS Issue on PC: 5 Ways
1. Meeting the Minimum/Recommended Requirements for Apex Legends.
First and foremost, it is absolutely crucial that before you do anything else in this guide that you make sure your machine is even capable of running Apex Legends. Iphone simulator for mac download.
Go through the list of requirements below and check if you meet them. It.'s important to meet all of the minimum system requirements as well as have some of the recommended system requirements in place to prevent such Low FPS issues from occurring.

2. Using the Right Graphics Card.
Common problem users have reported have been that Apex Legends might be using your built-in Intel graphics card and not your dedicated one such as NVIDIA, AMD, EVGA, etc.
So depending on your graphics card, you will need to go the graphics card's control panel right in your PC and then select Apex Legends as your program.
For instance, here's how you do it if you're on an NVIDIA:
- Jump into your PC, right-click anywhere on the screen and then click to go to your NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Once you have your NVIDIA Control Panel opened and ready, click on the Manage 3D Settings from the left-hand sidebar.
- Now under the Manage 3D Settings, click on the Program settings tab. Then make sure under the Select a program to customize that you add your Apex Legends as your program.
If in such case you cannot find it, click on Add and try to find it from there. Also, make sure that you run the game first and then close it down completely before looking for it. It can appear missing if the game is running in the background.
- Great. Next, right under Select the preferred graphics processor for this program: option, make sure that you choose the High-performance NVIDIA processor. Once you've selected that, you can then click on Apply to apply the changes.
Done.
You can similarly follow the above steps even if you're using a different one the likes of AMD, EVGA, etc.
This fix should patch up most of the low FPS issues you were having. If it doesn't, there are a few more ways that you can still try and do.
3. Optimization Tweaks for NVIDIA Users.
If you're using one of NVIDIA's GPUs then you can try some of the following optimizations in the NVIDIA Control Panel on your PC to get the most juice out of the system.

Not all of these settings may apply to you.
- Go ahead open up your NVIDIA Control Panel (you can right-click anywhere on your Windows home screen and then choose NVIDIA Control Panel from the list). Then navigate to Manage 3D Settings.
- Here make sure to set the following settings to the following values:
- Set Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1
- Set Monitor Technology to G-SYNC (if applicable)
- Set Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration to Single display performance mode
- SetPower Management Mode to Prefer maximum performance
- Set Texture filtering – Quality to Performance
- Disable Vertical Sync
- Enable Threaded Optimization
- Set Preferred Refresh Rate to Highest available
- Once you've made your optimization tweaks, simple Apply the changes and navigate to Adjust desktop size and position.
- Over here you can check the checkbox next to Override the scaling mode set by games and programs and then hit Apply.
Done. The above tweaks should get the best out of your NVIDIA GPU and fix up your Low FPS issue with Apex Legends.
4. Updating your Drivers.
It's also important to routinely update your graphics cards.
Outdated drivers can result in loss of performance because it is not updated to the latest drivers which can get the best out of your GPU.
Depending on the make of your GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, etc) you can download the latest drivers by going to their websites and downloading them from there. For convenience I have included the links to the latest drivers for both NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards below:

5. Choosing High Performance in your Windows Settings.
- Jump into your Windows 10 and click on the search bar on the bottom. You want to search for ‘Graphics Settings'. Click on the Graphics settings once you find it.
- Next, in your Graphics Settings page, under the Choose an app to set preference there will be a dropdown menu. From the dropdown menu select the Classic app. Then select Apex Legends and click on the Options button.
If for some reason you do not see Apex Legends once you've chosen Classic app from the dropdown menu list, then simply Browse for the game, select it and then finally click on the Options button.
- Lastly, under the Graphics specifications options, simply choose High performance. You're good to go.

Try playing Apex Legends once again to see if the low FOS glitch still is present.
6. Tweaking the Windows Power Mode Performance.
At times your PC reduces its performance when the battery is low which can affect your Apex Legends game and cause a drop in FPS.
To fix that simply jump into your Windows PC and click on the Battery icon on the bottom right-hand content of the screen.
Then just drag the slider from Best Battery Life to the Best Performance (right).
This little tweak is a super simple one that most would often forget. This fix should ensure that your machine runs at peak performance
7. Adjusting In-Game Settings to Increase FPS.
There are a few tweaks that you can do to optimize your Apex Legends right in the game's menu itself.
Do note that these are some of the recommended settings but you can tweak them to your liking a bit.
- Go ahead launch up your Apex Legends and then open up the settings page by clicking the gear icon that is located to the bottom right-hand corner.
- Next click on the Video tab.
- Now you can set the following settings to get the best out of your game:
- Set Display Mode to Full Screen.
- Set Resolution to your monitor's native resolution.
- Set V-Sync to Disabled. (This is important)
- Set Anti-aliasing to TSAA. Having this setting at Disabled is not worth the FPS increase (about 2-3%)
- Set Texture Streaming Budget to High.
- Set Texture Filtering to Anisotropic 4X.
- Set Ambient Occlusion Quality to Low. This setting has a very high impact on performance.
- Set Sun Shadow Coverage to Low.
- Set Sun Shadow Detail to Low.
- Set Spot Shadow Detail to Low.
- Set Volumetric Lighting to Disabled.
- Set Dynamic Spot Shadows to Disabled.
- Set Model Detail to Medium.
- Set Effects Detail to Medium.
- Set Impact Marks to Low.
- Set Ragdolls to Medium.
Done. You can try testing a game with Apex Legends to see if this fixes the low FPS issue with the game.
Hopefully one of the above methods should fix the Apex Legends Low FPS issue on PC.
If it doesn't then you might need to wait for EA to release an update.
